Edema can occur anywhere on the body.                                                                                                                                                                                          I had an interesting case of edema of the face that occurred with a 49 year old female runner who was entering menopause. This patient’s facial swelling would resolve itself while the patient was on the acupuncture table. Part of the reason this woman responded so quickly to her treatment was her superior physical conditioning.   I have given examples of a few cases of Edema I've treated in Connecticut (CT).      Acute-Edema Dampness Accumulation Usually seen with patient of poor physical conditioning, pitting edema seen on the legs, fatigue Acute edema on the face seen with allergies and hormone imbalances, the symptoms occur suddenly and sometimes at predictable times. I had a very interesting case of allergies and hormone changes causing a young woman to have predictable facial swelling. The swelling was caused by both food and changes occurring naturally during her cycle.
