Constipation: a period between defecation of 3-5 days where bowel movements are dry or hard, difficult to pass, distention and fullness in the lower abdomen.
Water plays an important role in having a successful bowl movement. An older Chinese doctor told me "It takes water to float a boat." It sounded much better with a Chinese accent.
There are 5 traditional causes of constipation.
Note: Some medications cause constipation.
